Rob Hawley

Rob graduated with an Honours Law degree from the University of Central Lancashire in 1989, and in 1991 obtained a Masters degree in International Laws from The University of Nottingham.

From there Rob finally entered the real world by joining a local Intellectual Property (IP) practice as a trainee, and so began what has become a journey of over thirty years in the trade mark profession.

During this time, Rob has worked primarily in the Midlands and North West of England and the positions he has held include in-house roles with two multi-national manufacturers, managing a team in the IP Department of a large international law firm, and also serving as a company Director and Partner, respectively, in two IP practices. Rob joined Serjeants in September 2024 and leads the firm’s trade mark team.

Rob is very experienced in all aspects of trade mark selection, protection, and portfolio management. Throughout his career, Rob has amassed experience in a wide range of commercial sectors and also has a keen interest in design rights.

Outside of work Rob enjoys exploring the Derbyshire and Staffordshire countryside with his wife, spending time with his sons (whenever their packed social lives allow), attempting to get to grips with Italian, and living in hope that one day he will crack the code to playing half-decent golf.
