Kate graduated from Nottingham University in 1993 with a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry and Biological Chemistry, specialising in cell-to-cell and cell-to-extracellular matrix interactions. Kate then went on to gain an MSc in Management of Intellectual Property Law at QMW College, London in 1994.

Kate began her career with a Liverpool based firm of patent and trade mark attorneys, qualifying as a Chartered patent attorney in 1997, being awarded the Gill Prize for General Excellence in these examinations and qualifying as a European patent attorney the following year. She was made a partner of the firm in 2001 and moved to its Cheltenham office in 2008.

Kate decided to make a life-change in August 2012 and left the partnership she had been with since qualification. She now works successfully as a consultant mainly in the chemical, biochemical and medical device fields. Kate started working with Serjeants in December 2015.

Kate’s two children take up most of her time outside of work but when time allows she enjoys walking, Body Balance and running.
