Peter Smith

Peter was born in Suffolk but has lived in Leicester for most of his life. He graduated from Cambridge University in 1989 with a degree in natural sciences, specialising in physics. He immediately joined Serjeants and qualified as both a UK and a European patent attorney in 1993. He became a partner of the firm in 1995.

Peter has worked on a wide variety of patent cases, generally of a mechanical or electronic nature, but he still likes to get his teeth into some real physics from time to time. He also deals with trade marks, copyright and designs and has written most of the computer programs that enable the firm to function efficiently. He travels regularly to the United States to visit clients there.

For relaxation, Peter plays regular badminton and occasional tennis. He enjoys puzzles of all kinds. Although there is always something waiting to be done in the garden, Peter does find time to go walking in the British countryside and he has a particular interest in its natural history.
