Ian McKelvey

Ian obtained his degree in chemistry from Oxford University. He joined the profession in 1972 and qualified in 1977. He has been with Serjeants from its start and became a partner in 1982.

Ian handles the firm’s chemical work and is experienced in pharmaceutical chemistry, polymer chemistry and petrochemicals. From time to time he takes simple mechanical subject-matter cases.

Trade marks form a substantial part of Ian’s work; he is a Member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys and the European Communities Trade Mark Association.

Ian is the partner responsible for much of the firm’s formalities work, including renewals, and for the financial aspects of the business.

Away from the office, Ian’s interests are in table tennis, bridge and that most peculiarly English of hobbies, change ringing on church bells. He lives in the country in a three hundred year old cottage.
