Dean Lacey

Dean graduated from Southampton University in 1998 with a MEng (Euro) in Mechanical Engineering, having spent his final year studying at the Ecole Nationale d’IngĂ©nieurs de Tarbes in France.

Dean initially worked as a graduate engineer for GKN plc before he entered the field of intellectual property in 1999, working as a Patent Examiner at the UK Intellectual Property Office. He joined an East Midlands based firm of patent and trade mark attorneys in April 2001, qualifying as a European patent attorney in 2005 and as a chartered UK patent attorney the following year. Dean is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, a member of FICPI-UK and an Associate Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Dean joined Serjeants in autumn 2007, and deals primarily with inventions in the fields of mechanical, electro-mechanical and general engineering. He travels regularly to Japan to maintain contact with our important Japanese clients and associates.

Away from the office, Dean enjoys spending time with his wife and working out at the gym.
