Andrew Walter

After graduating from Leicester University in 2001 with a BSc (hons) in Chemistry, having spent a year studying at the Faculté de Science at the Université de Nice in France, Andrew studied for a PhD in Physical Chemistry also at Leicester University. His thesis involved the design and modification of chiral amperometric sensors for the determination of small carboxylic acid molecules.

Prior to joining Serjeants as a trainee in autumn 2010, Andrew spent four years as a Patent Researcher working in the private sector. The nature of the work allowed Andrew to gain a wide breadth of scientific knowledge in areas such as pharmaceutical chemistry, polymers, medical devices, sensors and general mechanical technologies.

Andrew is working towards qualification as a chartered UK and European patent attorney, and deals primarily with inventions in the fields of general mechanical and chemical technologies.

Outside of the office, Andrew enjoys watching many sports and follows the fortunes of the Leicester Tigers and Norwich City football club. He has recently become an accomplished skier and also enjoys spending time trying to improve his golf swing.
